This was a really fun cake to design and create. My son loves the show “Jake and the Neverland Pirates” so I was familiar with the theme when asked to make the cake. I have been seeing this wave technique around for a few months now, and it was the perfect time to try it! The bottom tier was made to look like waves using an ombre wave technique. I bordered the cake with brown sugar to represent sand. And then scattered fondant gold doubloons all around the cake.
The top tier was hand painted using gel food color. I painted it to look like a treasure map. The birthday message was painted in the font similar to the font used in the television show.
I made the Jake character out of fondant. I cut each color out and pieced it together like a puzzle. I made the palm tree out of fondant as well. When I was arranging the top of the cake, it was looking a little bare, so I added an airbrushed sun behind Jake to make him really pop. I love how this cake turned out, Happy Birthday Harry!
My daughter loves this show! Going to have to show this cake to her. She will be amazed!
